Souphanouvong (1975–1991)

Prince Souphanouvong became the first President of Laos after the abolition of the monarchy in 1975 and the proclamation of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Known as the “Red Prince,” he was a prominent revolutionary leader and a founding figure of the new socialist state.
